On Monday 16th, the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand hosted a book launch and discussion of the book “Future Forward: the rise and fall of a Thai political party”, in collaboration with NYSEAN and NIAS

All five speakers at the event hosted by FCCT

The event featured a presentation of the book by authors Duncan McCargo and Anyarat Chattharakul (on the screen in the picture). Because of the impossibility of travelling under the current circumstances, the authors joined from Denmark and The Netherlands. “This book is an experiment”, said Duncan McCargo, who also highlighted that the volume was written in 12 weeks, given the speed at which events were unfolding in Thailand (Future Forward Party was dissolved by the Thai Parliament in February 2020).

This book is an instant classic, a super book. I urge you all to read it

The other event speakers were Pitch Pongsawat, assistant professor, Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, and columnist at Matichon Daily; and Chris Baker, historian, writer and co-author of numerous books including “A History of Thailand”. Chris Baker has recently written “Thailand’s Future” in Mekong Review, in which he reviews the book and the current events in the country. Finally, Khun Klaikong a former FFP MP was an impromptu speaker.
